Production Supervisor

Purpose of the role:

  • Supervise a low to medium volume, high mix metalwork production area comprising of CNC Punch, CNC Bend, Weld, Studding, Powder Coat, Laser Etch and Final Assembly.
  • To ensure the metalwork department produces sub-assemblies and finished products on time to specification in order to meet the Production plan.
  • To maintain the Production plan so that the Production Manager and others have a ‘real’ time view of the status of all jobs in the area.
  • To implement and manage production KPIs.
  • To implement and maintain 5S, TPM and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Safety adherence and people management.

Key responsibilities

  • Operational target delivery
  • Safety, Quality & Process management
  • Update Production Manager on output vs target and build status.
  • Implement and manage skills matrix to ensure multi-skilling of the workforce.
  • First line people management and enforcement of HR processes including return to work interviews, first line disciplinary, 1-2-1s, appraisal and setting of objectives for staff

Skills 

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience of working as a supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing environment but not essential.
  • Proven supervisor of people / people management skills
  • Significant interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience of implementing and working within a lean environment
  • 5S, TPM, Single Piece Flow
  • Previous Experience of working in a metal fabrication environment
  • Good planning skills / familiarity with production process flow and value engineering.
  • Post school academic attainment such as NVQ / full apprenticeship
