Tactical Supply Chain Manager

 

 

Key-results 

 

Delivery of key results as measured by annual KPIs set by the business (targets to be defined in individual annual objectives):

 

A Tactical Supply Chain Team that adds value to the organization by ensuring

  • Tactical Supply Chain execute on the delivery of an effective and timely service to the business and against organization strategy
  • Tactical Supply Chain processes are automated and streamlined to ensure optimum team effectiveness
  • Sales Orders are translated into requests for supply from our internal (Production Facilities) or external Supply Chain Partners in a timely manner (total spend per annum: $55m)
  • Inventory is managed and control systems are in place to guide action, minimize risk and ensure performance versus targets

Measured by:

  • Inventory targets ($, stock turn, right product on the shelves)
  • OTIF (% deliveries withing x working days from PO receipt to shipment to customer)
  • EMEA net Freight expenditure targets ($ and % of revenue)
  • Purchase profile (% on shelf vs % back-to-back orders vs % manufactured)

 

Key responsibilities 

& activities

Performance Management of the Tactical Supply Chain Team utilizing TQ:

  • Perform Quarterly performance reviews for all team members including meeting of their personal objectives
  • Set Objectives with all team members
  • Create Individual Development Plan (IDP) for all team members
  • Review Job Descriptions annually with all team members
  • Manage absence within the Department to ensure balance of achievement of business objectives and mental wellbeing
  • Ensure application of all HR & EHS policies and practices

 

Service management:

  • Lead the Tactical Supply Chain Team to provide an effective, timely, professional and courteous service to the AFL HS EMEA organization, including: expediting, quotations, liaising with internal stakeholders, problem resolution, lead time improvements, some elements of project management, prioritization, planning, liaising with our internal manufacturing team, etc.
  • Work collaboratively on given projects or order scheduling with other Supply Chain Teams based at other AFL locations as and when required in order to achieve global annually reviewed targets

Continuous improvement & Change management:

  • Proactively apply lean and continuous improvement techniques to constantly review the processes in place within the department, streamline where possible
  • Proactively drive change when an opportunity presents itself within Supply Chain
  • Work with colleagues outside of Supply Chain to influence beneficial changes that would have a positive impact on the Supply Chain activities and/or the wider business
  • Assess suitability of processes, enhance and / or re-design when required to ensure maximum effectiveness (including processes across departmental boundaries when impacting Supply Chain’s effectiveness)
  • Ensure global tools are implemented in a timely manner and adequate training is provided for the Team
  • Transformation Agent who proposes creative and revolutionary solutions to improve, enhance and add value to the business
  • Drive business optimization within Supply Chain, spearhead initiatives to develop Associates’ understanding and acceptance of impacts on business practices, policies and / or business partners
  • Support the implementation of a new ERP system from a Supply Chain point of view, working collaboratively with other members of the implementation Team

 

Data analysis:

  • Collate, build, analyze and report Supply Chain / Logistics / Inventory related data for monthly reports and / or ad hoc reports as required by the business

 

Inventory management:

  • Lead the Supply Chain Team to ensure the right stock levels of the right products are held in stock to support the business strategy and in line with the annually reviewed inventory KPIs

 

Effective collaboration will all other departments

  • Ensure effective flow of information necessary for successful achievement of annual objectives
  • Communicate effectively within Supply Chain and across other departments including updates on deliveries, delays, issues etc.
  • Ensure effective communication of all the Tactical Supply Chain Team members internally and with stakeholders across the business
  • Ensure effective communication and delivery of global objectives actively working with peers based in other geographical locations

 

Cost management

  • Negotiate cost reductions with freight forwarders
  • Manage the Logistics / Freight providers effectively to secure best value for money overall. 

 

Information maintenance:

  • Maintain supplier related data in a structured manner enabling fast access to pricing information, capabilities, know-how and lead time to the Supply Chain Team

 

Host supplier visits on site as required (Frequency: low)

Experience, Knowledge & qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics or Procurement, preferably in an electronic or FMCG environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management of small teams
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the recruitment of team members
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in working with team globally
  • Experience in Far East purchasing an advantage
  • Knowledge of lean and continuous improvement techniques (beginner to advance level)
  • Knowledge of remote management

Decision rights 

  • Approval of Purchasing Orders up to £50k
  • Approval of Inventory Requests from Sales Team up to $50k
  • Approval of Tactical Supply Chain team members’ absences as per Matrix in place
  • Supplier selection from the Approved Vendor’s List (maintained by Supplier Development Engineers in APAC)
